If you are expecting, or having a baby, don't forget to subscribe the weekly email from the Baby Center. I really enjoy reading Baby Center's email and comparing Cobcob's week by week's development through the pregnancy and beyond. It is fun to know tips and different techniques from other people, however whatever approach you settle on, make sure it's one you feel comfortable with.

Below is an example of Q&A from Baby Center I read today:

Is it okay to let my baby spend time playing alone?

Solo play is not only okay, it's a must-do! While the time you spend playing with your baby is central to his development (and for many parents, among the day's highlights), his ability to play independently — even for a few minutes at a time — is also important. It builds self-reliance and confidence, skills that will be valuable to your baby throughout his life.

"Playing alone" doesn't mean setting your baby on the floor and leaving the room, however. Get your baby started on his own by providing a few toys and initiating the activity. Once he's engaged, move out of his view. (Make sure he's in a child-safe area to begin with, such as a playpen or a childproofed living room.) Resist stepping in to retrieve dropped toys or to show your baby how each one works. Let him figure it out on his own. Return to his side when he seems frustrated or upset.

As your baby grows older and gets better at interacting with a variety of playthings, you'll be able to leave him alone, under supervision, for longer periods of time. Not only is this good for his development, but it's helpful for you, too, as you'll gain precious extra minutes for yourself in your day.

没办法，他们俩每天都在一起，而且我也没奶喂 Cobcob。哈、哈。

翻身

Cobcob 快要会自己翻身了。昨天 Cobcob “不小心” 翻了一次身，在那边喊救命。这张照片是今天早上拍的。看样子他很快就能翻身了。

Cobcob 三个半月大的睡眠时间如下：

• 晚上八点左右入眠
• 隔天早上六点左右醒，妈妈喂完奶后把他放回小床。
• 从六点半开始，自己在小床里玩，然后再继续睡到八、九点。
• 中午有两次的一至两个小时的小睡。
• 晚上八点左右又再入眠

Passport Photo

我们今年年底要回马来西亚玩一个半月，所以今天下班后带 Cob 宝宝到黑店 (The Black) 去拍 Passport 照片。看得出 Cobcob 是躺在地上拍的吗？

那家店真的是名副其实的黑店，两张小 Passport 照片竟然是加币二十一块钱。（大人、小孩一样价钱。）Note: Costco 才七块钱，但 Costco 不帮三尺以下的儿童拍照。

IKEA 买 "Chest of Drawers" 记

两周前到 IKEA 买了 "Chest of Drawers"。 在安装组合时发现有一根木头跟其他相对的短了一公分，根本安装不上。后来跑去 IKEA 换了这根木头。组合快要结束的时候，又发现有一片木板的洞与其他的木板不符合，又到了 IKEA 一趟。当时换完木板之后，告诉服务员这是我第二次来换组合了，有点不方便，也顺口问他 "I was wondering what you can do for me?"。服务员想也不想的就这样给了我 $15 的 Gift Card。

木板带回家之后又发现之前一面的洞是吻合了，但另一面的洞却不吻合，真气人。第三次在回到 IKEA 换木板时，先谢谢服务员的服务，然后很有礼貌的告诉他我花了两周的时间，而且这次是第三次回来换组合，对我是非常不方便，然后才问他 "I was wondering what you can do for me?"。 那服务员在电脑前敲敲两下，告诉我他可以还我 $50，还问我 "Is that OK?"。当时我又从 Not Happy Customer 变成了 IKEA 的 Happy Customer 了。

下一次如果你有类似的遭遇，可试用 Magic Sentence "What you can do for me?"。 记得要有礼貌哦！

Babies Gathering

上个周末我们产前班同学来一个聚会，同一个时间来了八个小宝宝，热闹得很。我们把宝宝们排成一排，从最大排到最小。Cobcob 在里面是排行老五。

注意与 Cobcob 同年同月同日生的 Kathleen 小宝宝，她比 Cobcob 迟了两个小时出来，而且是同一家医院出生的。更巧的是他们的产房就在我们产房隔壁。Cobcob 出生时九磅，Kathleen 是十一磅。

Celebrating Cobcob's 3-month-old

Cobcob 已经一个人睡在自己的房间了

Cobcob 在第九周时就开始睡过夜了。现在每晚都可以睡上八至十个小时，妈妈已经不必半夜起来给他喂奶了。昨晚是Cobcob第一晚自己一个人睡在自己的房间。本来还怕Cobcob听不到爸爸打鼾的声音，会不习惯，那里知道他还是睡上了十个小时。

Cobcob and 谦谦哥哥

谦谦哥哥非常的疼爱Cobcob。他每一次到我们家来，人还没踏进门口他就会先问:"Cobcob呢？"要找他玩。 Cobcob哭的时候，他会安慰Cobcob叫他不要哭。有时候还会唱歌给Cobcob听。

这是5月21日在 Moonie's Bay BBQ Picnic 时拍的照片。那时Cobcob才七周大。虽然那天是阳光普照，但温度是15度左右，而且风也蛮大的，所以我们把Cobcob包起来。

Cobcob and April

上上周末，我到我朋友April家玩。April是四月份出生的，我是三月三十一日出生的。那我肯定比April大，我终于可以当哥哥了。

下下周末是长周末，Grace的妈妈说要邀请所有的小朋友到他们家玩。我们已经收到邀请，妈妈说我们肯定到。爸爸说肯定要帮所有的小朋友们拍个合照。

Father's Day 2007 第一个父亲节

上周末第一次过父亲节。早上醒来的时候异常的兴奋，还给爸爸打个电话，给大哥寄个email祝贺他们父亲节快乐。也跟他们讲我们会去教会庆祝父亲节。

崇拜快结束的时候，Doreen问我孩子的老师们会不会也把Cobcob带上来一起庆祝父亲节，我说应该会吧。后来孩子们都没上来，只有主席结束时请父亲们站起来向我们祝贺。有点失望。母亲节有儿童献诗、献花等，父亲节却什么也没有。可能母亲节比父亲节重要吧！

晚上Cobcob与谦谦哥哥，还有妈妈们带爸爸们去East Side Mario吃晚餐，过一个愉快的夜晚。

Shopping Tips at Costco

最近在Costco买到超便宜的Nestle Carnation Hot Chocolate，1.8kg才卖$2.99，而且绝对不是平时快过期而减价的产品。其他商店都卖$12左右。一直都不明白为什么Costco卖得那么便宜，但却有注意到价钱标签上有个 * 。

昨天在Costco买了一个car seat，才$79块钱，价钱标签上也有个 * 。 平时是卖$147的，而且现在其他商店的价钱都还在$150左右。跑去问Costco员工，他们告诉我这时"Marked down price"。当时觉得自己好傻，还是不懂那是什么意思。后来Doreen在Come From China网站找到了答案。。。

Price Mark Down: Costco卖场有严格的产品种类限制，基本上要进新的，就会淘汰旧的，表现在季节性的产品上尤为明显。停止进货的商品标签上会有*，为了尽早地处理完这批货物，有时候会把价格降得不可思议，这个时候商家绝对是亏本。。。基本上是平时售价的一半或是三分之一，不过标签上除了*记号，别的什么都看不到，而且卖完就没有了，不会做别的宣传。不过也请注意，有*是必要条件，但不是充分条件，所以下不下叉，还是得自己判断。

受欢迎的一员

Cobcob每天都是开心宝宝，常常笑到手舞足蹈的，是我们家受欢迎的新成员。最近读了一本书，觉得其中一点讲得蛮有道理的：

《从零岁开始》

父母亲不要把整个世界带到孩子面前，而要把孩子带入父母亲的世界里。父母亲要保守婚姻，把婚姻关系视为首要。同时也要避免以孩子为中心的育儿方式，一开始孩子就是家庭中受欢迎的一员，而非家庭的中心。

今年的生日

老婆喜欢做蛋糕。老婆每年都亲手做一个独一无二的爱心生日蛋糕帮我庆生。这种蛋糕是Limited Version, 而且一年只做一次。这已经是老婆为我而做的第五个“唯独我有”的生日蛋糕。

今年的生日很特别，有Cobcob陪我们一起用晚餐。吃晚餐的时候，Cobcob坐在他的bouncer椅一直的跟爸爸笑，笑得非常的甜，而且嘴巴不停的发出GooGoo声，仿佛在跟爸爸说生日快乐。

喜欢吃奶酪的老鼠

最近家里地下室患鼠灾，跑去Dollar店花了一块钱买了四个抓老鼠的架子。过去几个月抓了两只老鼠，今天又抓了一只，成绩相当不错。以前好傻，以为老鼠跟我一样喜欢吃鸡肉、牛肉，还特地选自己爱吃的鸡肉、牛肉与我的鼠老弟分享。那里知道鼠老弟对肉没感上兴趣，从不关顾。后来想起小时候卡通里的老鼠都爱吃奶酪，就试试换菜单，果然鼠老弟的确对奶酪有兴趣。

City of Ottawa New Local Calling Area

Starting June 18, 2007, long distance charges will no longer be applied to calls placed from Kanata to Orleans. Sometimes it is not making sense to pay for long distance charges to call friends on the other end of the city. Well, it is a good news for me, although we have to pay a monthly fee of 50 cents for the next 36 months. To read the city news: click here.

Where to stay in Toronto

Next time, if you visit Toronto, you might want to stay in the Residence Conference Centre. They have quite a few locations in Ontario. Last year, we stayed in the one in Centennial College. This year, we stayed in the one in Seneca College. Here is information to share:

• We paid member cost: $59 per night.
  
• Regular cost: $79 (University Alumni: $74)
  
• Parking: $5 per day
• Breakfast is provided.
• Free local phone, free TV programs.
  
• Internet access in bedroom for your laptop.
  (Bring your CAT5 cable too, you may need to check with the front desk to set it up.)

从多伦多回来了

带着两个月大的小宝宝到外面跑四天的确是一个挑战。虽然是辛苦一些，不过这旅程毕竟还是一个难忘的旅程。Cobcob已经是非常的合作了，来回四个钟头的车程都是一路睡着觉，而且回来渥太华的时候是他自己坐在后车座。（去的时候有婆婆陪他坐在后面。）

问：Cobcob会不会闹？
答：那当然啰！在家都会闹了，在外头怎么不闹呢？而且外头没家里舒服，闹的平率会多一点。如果不怕麻烦的话，我们感觉出门还是行得通的。

多伦多四日三夜之行

明天一早我们就会到多伦多玩四天，也会在星期一晚在多伦多机场给外婆送行。星期二早上才会从多伦多回来。爸爸说如果我表现好的话，今年夏天会带我去Camping。
